I am really looking forward to when this remake comes out in a few days.In honor of the latest Steam Next Fest, Nightdive Studios and publisher Prime Matter have released a brand-new demo for System Shock today, which gives fans a whole new look at the exciting title coming in March. I'm pretty sure that's because the demo is a beta though, so I can let it slide. The game's UI font also seems a weirdly low-resolution, and the something I really didn't expect was to see the hacker's legs clip into the surgery station whenever I use it. The framerate is easily the most obnoxious part, not because it's bad, but because it makes hitting enemies with the pipe even harder. I'm not TOTALLY sure it's my Steam Deck as the forced compatibility tool I'm using, Proton Experimental, is pretty good and has always gotten games to run flawlessly, unless the game flat out doesn't work, but there are still some performance oddities. This part is probably because I'm playing on a Steam Deck instead of a PC, but the performance seems pretty scuff. I know there is a map upgrade which makes things much easier, but until then I'm lost. It looks nice, but everything blends in a little too much and I get lost more often than I'd like to admit. The other issue is the overuse of the color blue. I understand that it's not meant to be a reliable weapon, but I know that the original conveyed that just fine, and I didn't need to get up in an enemy's face like a drill instructor just to hit them. My biggest problem is that the range on melee weapons, namely the pipe seems uncomfortably short. I'm trying to get into immersive simulators recently so I'm trying to keep an open mind and I understand that some of my problems will be fixed, or is kind of my fault.
